frigid

Here I sit, in a heated house, with power and food and not wondering where my next anything is coming from. I then start to think about the people that have no heat, no food, wondering if they will wake up the next morning because of the cold. It is something I try to not think about or I dwell on it. It also makes me glad that it isnt this cold here all winter long. I dont think I could deal with this 17* weather all the time.. nope.. not me.. I might like to be in the cooler weather, but this frigid is just too much for me. I think I am getting old.. meh.. Who knows.. and honestly.. who cares? Age is but a number to count the passing of time. It should not be a marker for things. Who cares in the end if you had your 1st kid at 15 or 35? Does it matter? No, what matters is the kind of parent you were. Who cares if you got your license when you were 17 or 77? If your driving record is good, then that is what should matter. Honestly it should be about WHO and HOW you are as a person. That is what it is. I dont know.. I think it is more people just being nosey about things more often then not. And now to finish the local paper and think about what to make for dinner tomorrow.. And time continues to pass.. as it is never ending, never changing, never moving its course from one second to another.

over

Well.. The day of busy is over.. Christmas went well. DD1 got up at 645... thanks.. mommy went to bed at 3.. blech.. but DD2 didnt get up till about 730.. and then as we are mean, and we were waiting for family to be here, they didnt even get to get into their gifts till almost 930.. The quiche came out good, tho I dont think I should blind bake the crust next time. I ended up making 4 of them. 1 bacon and cheese, 1 sausage and cheese, 1 broccoli and cheese, and one with the leftover bits of sausage, bacon and broccoli. I think G liked that one the best :) Partly cause it had no crust I think. I will put the recipe that I used shortly.. I had to work the next day.. blech.. then we got to go to another friends house to see other friends that were up from MD. That was great, ordered in Chinese and sushi. It was a great time. Lastnight we took the girls to the Turtle Back Zoo cause they had a light display going on. It was pretty, and supopsed to be the warmest night of the week! The most exciting part was the wolves actually being up and wandering about. Other then that the open house on Friday went well. Only a handful of people came, but thats ok too. hmmm.. I might have to do a few recipes today.. So other then the boring laundry today I might actually have some time to crochet a bit. I think I know where my things are.. in a box!!! Other then that.. meh.. I will have to get around to posting pictures at some point.. we will see.. And I think that I get to stay home and sleep for new years :) that would be great!

QUICHE

so simple..

1 pie crust (or not)
8 eggs
1/4ish cup of milk OR cream OR half and half
1/3 cup shredded cheese of your choice
1/2 lb bacon, or sausage, or1/3 cup chopped broccoli

Preheat oven to 350* Take the pie plate, if you are using a crust, place it in the pan, if not spray with cooking spray. In a LARGE bowl crack all 8 eggs add the milk/cream/half and half and mix well. Into the crust or preped pie plate, put the filling topped with the cheese, then pour the eggs over top. place in oven and cook for about 30 mins, but check it. insert a knife and when it comes out clean it is done! So easy. NOTE: if you are using the broccoli, it must be steamed 1st and then drained VERY well.

Ham Turkey and Cheese roll ups

open pack of crescent rolls and squish the seams together to make it one sheet. place the cheese on, then the ham and turkey. roll up and slice into 3/4 inch slices put on baking sheet and bake for about 20 mins in a 350* oven remove quickly and enjoy!!

creamcheese and jam swirls

lemon
10 whole cloves

add the cider to the crock pot and turn on high then add cinnamon and cloves slice 1/2 an orange and 1/2 a lemon and toss in, enjoy when warm, you can also simmer this on the stove, but on very low so it doesnt burn away..

the list...

So today there is a list of things I need to get done.. the dishes were finished and caught up on yesterday.. man I miss my dishwasher.. today it is bake a cake, brownies, and perhaps cookies.. finish putting things away in the kitchen, put up some more lights, make dinner of some kind, tonight start wrapping gifts, put up the rest of the lights with G's help, and go over my lists to make sure I have everything for tomorrow to make 3 or 4 quiche, pepperoni bread, and cheese bread and then get the rest of the finger food together for Friday afternoon... have it all set to go.. I hope.. then wrap gifts, and then hopefully thursday will be the finishing of the cooking/baking and then the floors and be done!! I can hope atleast.. and then that would be it.. done..

Why is it that every time you wash the car it rains/snows?? I think that when there is a drought people should all take their cars to the carwashes (the ones that use well water or recycled water) and get them washed.. I swear, every time I take the car to be washed it rains 3 days later..

Am I mistaken, or are you supposed to clear all of the ice/snow off your car before driving??? I cant stand it anymore. I think that I should be allowed to stop at red lights and jump out of my car and start clearing off other peoples, while yelling at them that they are truly a road hazard. Somehow I dont think that they, or the cops would think so.. but come on, if I cant see your taillights, and you are blowing snow off your car at me then I think I can yell at you! I understand that if you have a tall truck and you have made an effort to clear EVERYthing you can reach and you leave the mow-hawk. Yes, you should still try to use a broom or get one of the extended handle snow brushes, but atleast you tried. My least favorite are the people that have just used their rear defogger and windshield to clear snow.. come on!! you are going to end up cracking your back window and I will laugh at you..

yup.. I think thats it for now.. cake time!!!

more random then you can imagine

So why is it that when I try to lay down to go to bed I think, "OH!! I cant forget to get this at the store" and expect to remember it?? Normally after that one thing I come up with a dozen or so, and then cant remember one in the morning. I will then go to the store that night, and get home and THEN (and only THEN) remember what it is I remembered before sleep that I needed to get. I have a rather large list I need o make today for Christmas. I am doing brunch here for the grandparents to watch the DDs open their gifts, and then an open house from 2 till 6. What was I thinking?? There are still boxes in the dining room, I cant find everything I think I need.. ack!! oh well.. I will get to it.. I hope..

Oh, just so that you know.. I discovered the WORST way ever to get woken up in the middle of the night by your own body... with a mouthful of vomit and a leg cramp... what is that??? I mean really.. pick ONE.. not both.. it isnt fair.. not even close..

So not to mention things over and over, but I have realized that the only time I have to myself is when I am driving. I can put the music all the way up, listen to what I want, say what I want.. it doesnt matter.. And people wonder why I love it when it snows and I can sit in the totally snow covered car and just have the quiet.. everything is muffled then.. I love it.. too bad I didnt get to do that this weekend.. oh well.. next time it snows..

I am hoping that one of the things I can include here from time to time is a recipe that you might like to try. They are most always simple things that can be thrown together easily with not much thought or prep. And ones for the crockpot (the best invention ever for busy parents OR just busy people that come home late and still have to cook) can use (99.9% of the time) frozen meats. No defrosting required!! This is the one that I think I am going to make tonight.. it is one of my FAVORITES!!! not to mention it has 4 ingredients.. Ok, so you have to choose a side, and starch.. but come on now... instant taters? frozen veggies?? so that like 5 mins to finish dinner, and 5 to get it going.. how can you complain?? so here it is.. you can repost it, but I would like the credit as I did create it... (yes, it does sound odd, but it is GREAT, I promise)

Cran-pineapple Pork

1 pork roast (frozen or not) The size that will fit in your crockpot well
1 can jellied cranberry sauce
1 can pineapple chunks
chopped garlic to taste

put roast into crockpot, open can of cranberry sauce and dump in (you can break it up a little) open can of pineapple (steal a few pieces cause they are yummy) and dump in, juice and all, toss the garlic in over everything. Put on low for about 8ish hours. (6 if its thawed) Take roast out, turn crock to high,  thicken the liquid for gravy buy using cornstarch and water (it is just a faster way, and easier for the crockpot I find) make veggies, make a starch, and there you go!!!

see.. I told you.. like 5 mins prep, and 5 mins to finish..

ok.. this is long now.. I am going.. need to do the evil dishes...

Well it is done

So here it is.. the musings of the undeniable insane. Being a mother of 2 I generally dont get much adult conversation. I might go on and on about simple things, or insane things. That is what it is. I dont know what to tell you then "if you dont like it, dont read it!" I am aware that most people arent going to care about what I have to say. Heck, sometimes I dont care about what I have to say, it just needs saying.. I might go on about the kids (Known as DD1 and DD2), my hobies, my husband (who shall be known as "G"), work, or any number of other things. I might decide to post links to things that I like, or find appalling. Kind of in the line of "OMG!! this is so gross!!! Taste it!!" And like most people, you will too "taste" it. So take it or leave it.. but here it is..
